![]() The per capita income for the township was $19,848. Males had a median income of $30,000 versus $17,083 for females. The median income for a household in the township was $27,350, and the median income for a family was $31,806. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 85.2 males. For every 100 females there were 95.3 males. In the township the population was spread out with 20.6% under the age of 18, 5.8% from 18 to 24, 24.8% from 25 to 44, 29.1% from 45 to 64, and 19.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.29 and the average family size was 2.81. 27.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. There were 358 households out of which 24.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.1% were married couples living together, 8.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.0% were non-families. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.24% of the population. The racial makeup of the township was 98.44% White, 0.60% Native American, and 0.96% from two or more races. There were 483 housing units at an average density of 13.5 per square mile (5.2/km 2). The population density was 23.3 per square mile (9.0/km 2). Demographics Īs of the census of 2000, there were 832 people, 358 households, and 239 families residing in the township. Killmaster is memorialized at the nearby Lumberman's Monument.Īccording to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 35.8 square miles (93 km 2), of which, 35.7 square miles (92 km 2) of it is land and 0.2 square miles (0.52 km 2) of it (0.42%) is water. Gustin is named after the late William Gustin Vandiford of York, who lived from 1851-1894.The office was discontinued on October 15, 1910. A post office opened on Jwith Adelbert J. Gustin was a station on the Detroit, Bay City and Alpena Railroad in 1886. ![]()
