![]() ![]() Okay Trigger, I loved Inferno Cop, now let’s see what you can do with a female heroine in a similar show. Oh yeah and the ending was kinda too breathy. I was pleasantly surprised that her transformation sequence didn’t have any nudity. But not even really, it could have been a lot worse. The only thing I can think of is the class laughing at a gun coming out of her crotch was slightly uncomfortable. I also noted an alien girl with 3 eyes so maybe we’ll get some fun alien designs. It was really funny how they inserted “space” into some of the lines “OH NO THEY CAUGHT ME SPACE-CHEAGTING!” hahaha. Kinda an Excel Saga or Pani Poni Dash (Hare Guu?) surreal humor style. The style of humor we’re gonna get here was mostly seen in that “YOU’RE UNDER ARREST! YOU’RE FREE TO GO…” scene. is paced like a normal-length show it’s like nothing happens every episode. SUPER FAST! This is a good thing for short shows, if the animation/dialogue/etc. Here are my initial Pros and Cons on Space Patrol Luluco: And the color is more pastel-soft than Kill La Kill’s bold, sketchiness. Style seems like Kill La Kill mixed with Inferno Cop (Trigger’s other properties) which is a fun combo. Well that exploded into my face and went by so fast I’m not entirely sure what I just saw. anime boston 2016 anime boston kiznaiver anime review You can’t force us to love your characters instantaneously Kiznaiver, they have to earn it. It left me feeling hollow because it felt like it was trying way too hard to establish its characters as lovable and quirky each one a darkhorse. These characters’ secrets aren’t shocking because we barely know them! Slow it down.Ĭalling Kiznaiver a trainwreck would be an exaggeration but it’s no masterpiece. It’s not funny to see the tough guy go soft if we’ve only seen him as a tough guy for like 10 minutes. The pace of these first two episodes felt ridiculously fast to me especially in regards to character relationships/development. Also, stop acting like saying “polka dots” or “stripes” when seeing a girl’s underwear is a new joke, we’ve heard it a million times. The girls are all over bland protag from the get-go and guys get to fondle and mock girls’ breasts with no real repercussions. Sexist, totally guided by the typical male fantasy BS. (Think, 999 or Battle Royale or something). Characters felt like archetypes (and were even given archetypes) and the whole “group trapped together in sinister scenario” plot feels like something we’ve seen before. Decent as a “page turner,” it keeps you interested by hinting at twists in the characters’ personalities/stories and the overall question of what is going on and how sinister is it? Who’s the good guy here? A good balance between male-female and unique character designs that are distinguishable from one another (aka not moe blobs) Style and animation quality are pretty much the same as Kill La Kill, nice to look at and super fluid. Like, super mega exlusive guys, c’mon!Īnyway, I was a dead zombie when I watched Kiznaiver this morning so that may have tinted my cynicism a bit buuuut my impression of the show was less than great. Crunchyroll hyped up the fact that, with their crunchy powers, Bostonians (and other attendees) would be the first to see this show. I’ve been going to Anime Boston for over 8 years now but this is the first time it has been sponsored by such a big company as Crunchyroll. This morning at 5:30am I had the cool privileged of seeing the first two episodes of Trigger studio’s latest anime at the same time it debuts in Japan (a literal simulcast).
